Black’s observations are supported by data from Google Trends, which shows a surge in searches for the Rivian R1T on the day Tesla began delivering its Cybertrucks. While searches for Ford’s F150 Lightning also increased, the interest in Rivian’s offering was higher, indicating a potential preference for Rivian among consumers.

The demand for the Cybertruck is undoubtedly significant, with over a million reservations already made, according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk. However, scaling production has proven challenging for Tesla, and Musk has cautioned that it may take until 2025 to fulfill existing reservations. In contrast, Rivian’s R1T is priced at $73,000 and typically delivered in four months or less.
