Revs acquire D Tim Parker, cash from St. Louis for D Henry Kessler

The New England Revolution made a significant move in the MLS transfer market by acquiring defender Tim Parker from St. Louis City in exchange for Henry Kessler. The deal also included $600,000 in general allocation money for the 2025 season.

Parker, a seasoned veteran at 31 years old, had a strong 2024 campaign with St. Louis City, making 21 appearances and contributing six goals and four assists. He brings a wealth of experience to the Revolution, having played in 267 career MLS games for four different teams. Parker was also named to the MLS Best XI and All-Star team last season, showcasing his quality as a defender.

Revs sporting director Curt Onalfo expressed his excitement about adding Parker to the squad, stating, “Tim performed at the highest level last season and we look forward to welcoming him to the New England Revolution as we continue to strengthen our roster.”

In exchange for Parker, St. Louis City received Henry Kessler, a 26-year-old center back who has been a consistent performer for the Revolution since making his MLS debut in 2020. Kessler has appeared in 98 games for New England, scoring four goals and establishing himself as a key member of the team’s defense.

St. Louis City’s sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel praised Kessler’s qualities, describing him as an aggressive defender with great vision on the ball. The addition of Kessler is expected to bolster St. Louis City’s defensive line and provide valuable depth to the squad.

Both Parker and Kessler have represented the U.S. men’s national team, highlighting their talent and potential at the international level.

The trade comes at a crucial time for both teams, as they look to improve their standing in the league. New England currently sits at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a record of 7-14-2, while St. Louis City is second to last in the Western Conference with a record of 4-10-11.

Overall, the trade is a significant move for both clubs, with the potential to strengthen their respective squads and make an impact in the MLS season ahead. Fans will be eager to see how Parker and Kessler perform in their new environments and how their addition will shape the future of their teams.
