Rafael Devers, Red Sox walk off vs. Mariners

The Boston Red Sox emerged victorious in a thrilling 3-2 extra-inning win over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, thanks to a walk-off RBI double by Rafael Devers in the bottom of the 10th inning. The win marked the Red Sox’s second victory in the three-game series against the Mariners, breaking a streak of series losses since the All-Star break.

Devers was the hero of the game, with three hits including the game-winning double that drove in Tyler O’Neill. The Red Sox had previously won the series opener 14-7 on Monday before dropping the second game 10-6 on Tuesday.

In a tight pitching duel, Boston starter Brayan Bello tossed 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out seven. On the other side, Seattle’s George Kirby was pulled in the sixth inning after giving up two runs on seven hits.

The Mariners took a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning when Josh Rojas launched a solo home run, but the Red Sox fought back to tie the game in the sixth with an RBI single from Danny Jansen. The game remained deadlocked until Devers’ heroics in the 10th inning secured the win for Boston.

Reliever Zack Kelly picked up the win for the Red Sox after holding the Mariners scoreless in the top of the 10th inning. On the other side, Jonathan Diaz took the loss for Seattle after facing just one batter, Devers, in the 10th.

The game featured strong performances from several players, including Rojas and Justin Turner who both collected two hits for the Mariners. Moore extended his hitting streak to six games with an RBI single in the fourth inning.

With this win, the Red Sox will look to build momentum as they continue their season, while the Mariners will aim to bounce back in their next series. Both teams showcased their talent and fighting spirit in a closely contested game that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very end.
