Jim Irsay treated for overdose by local police

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was found in a critical condition at his home in December, according to a police report obtained by TMZ. The report states that local police were called to Irsay’s residence after he was discovered unresponsive and struggling to breathe. Upon arrival, Irsay was found with a weak pulse and constricted pupils, and he was administered a dose of Narcan, a drug commonly used to revive individuals who have overdosed on opioids.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and took over lifesaving efforts before transporting Irsay to a nearby hospital. The incident was later classified as an overdose in the police records. The Colts released a statement on January 9, stating that Irsay was being treated for a severe respiratory illness. Additionally, Irsay had canceled an event with his band, The Jim Irsay Band, around the same time.

This is not the first time Irsay has faced public struggles with addiction. In 2022, he publicly acknowledged his dependency on painkillers. In a 2010 interview with USA Today, Irsay spoke about his past lifestyle, which involved excessive drinking and the use of drugs like cocaine and mushrooms.

In March 2014, Irsay was arrested under suspicion of DUI and drug possession. Police found cash and bottles of prescription drugs in his vehicle. He later entered rehab, and the charges were dismissed.

In a November 2023 interview, Irsay admitted to having been to rehab “at least 15 times” and having experienced past drug overdoses. He recounted a particularly dangerous incident where he mixed multiple drugs and had to be revived by medical professionals.

Irsay’s struggles with addiction have been well-documented, and this recent incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle he faces. It is crucial for individuals dealing with addiction to seek help and support to overcome these challenges. Hopefully, Irsay’s story can serve as an inspiration for others facing similar struggles and encourage them to prioritize their health and well-being.
