If you’re thinking Ja Morant is going to rebrand, think again

Since Ja Morant’s return to the Memphis Grizzlies lineup a week ago, the city of Memphis has been ecstatic. Without Morant, the team’s flaws were evident, and even though Desmond Bane did his best to hold down the fort, the offense struggled without Morant’s presence. However, since Morant’s return, the Grizzlies have gone undefeated in four games, earning Morant the title of Western Conference Player of the Week.

Morant’s impact on the team’s success is undeniable. His dribble and drive game have significantly contributed to the team’s wins, and his ability to score and distribute the ball has elevated the team’s offense. Even when opposing teams know his moves, Morant’s agility and finishing ability still baffle defenders. Additionally, his court vision allows him to make precise passes to his teammates, creating scoring opportunities.

In just a week, Morant has showcased his skills against notable opponents like Tyrese Haliburton, Trae Young, and the New Orleans Pelicans. His contributions of nearly 30 points and nine assists per game have provided a much-needed boost to the Grizzlies’ struggling offense. In fact, Morant’s presence has improved the team’s output by 10 points per 100 possessions, which is significant for a team that had the worst offense in the league prior to his return.

However, Morant’s recent gesture of mimicking a gun has sparked controversy. While he did not receive any reprimands from the league, it is clear that his actions are under scrutiny. It is important for Morant to be mindful of his behavior and focus more on his game than on seeking attention on social media.

Despite his off-court distractions, Morant’s athleticism and energy on the court are undeniable. However, he still needs to work on his outside shooting to elevate his game to the next level. Developing a consistent outside shot will not only benefit his individual performance but also make him a serious contender for MVP.

For now, the city of Memphis is thrilled to have Morant back in their lineup. The team will eventually need to make additional improvements, whether through trades, free agency, or Morant’s own development, to reach their full potential. But for now, they are content with the status quo and appreciate Morant’s contributions to the team’s success.
