Brewers could turn to Joe Ross to start versus Braves

The Milwaukee Brewers are making moves ahead of their upcoming game against the Atlanta Braves, with right-hander Joe Ross set to be activated off the injured list to start on Tuesday. Ross, who has been sidelined since May 21 with a low back strain, will be a welcome addition to the Brewers’ rotation.

In addition to Ross, the Brewers have also acquired right-hander Frankie Montas in a trade with Cincinnati. Montas, who has a 4-8 record and a 5.01 ERA, could also factor into the rotation mix for the Brewers. The team is looking to solidify their pitching staff as they continue their push for a playoff spot.

The Brewers are coming off a strong performance in their series opener against the Braves, with Willy Adames hitting a go-ahead three-run homer to power the team to an 8-3 victory. Rookie Jackson Chourio and Rhys Hoskins also contributed with home runs in the game. The Braves, on the other hand, have struggled recently, losing seven of their last nine games.

Ross, who has had a rocky career with multiple injuries, will be looking to make an impact in his 10th start of the season. He has a career record of 1-5 with a 6.53 ERA against the Braves, so he will be looking to turn things around in this matchup.

The Brewers’ bullpen is also facing some challenges, with closer Trevor Megill being placed on the injured list and All-Star closer Devin Williams being limited to not pitching in back-to-back games. The team will be relying on new acquisitions like Nick Mears to step up and contribute in relief.

Overall, the Brewers are looking to continue their winning ways and solidify their position in the playoff race. With key players like Ross and Montas joining the team, there is optimism that they can make a strong push in the second half of the season. The upcoming game against the Braves will be a test for the Brewers as they look to maintain their momentum and secure a crucial win.
