Angel Reese ties WNBA double-double record as Sky top Storm


The Chicago Sky pulled off a thrilling 88-84 road win against the Seattle Storm on Friday, thanks to standout performances from rookie Angel Reese and Chennedy Carter.

Reese, who tied a WNBA record with her 12th consecutive double-double, put up 27 points and 10 rebounds despite dealing with foul trouble throughout the game. Her impressive performance also saw her tie Candace Parker’s record for consecutive double-doubles in the league.

Meanwhile, Carter had a season-high 33 points, coming just two points shy of her career-high of 35. She shot an impressive 15-for-24 from the field, leading the Sky to their second consecutive win and evening the season series at 1-1.

The Storm, who had won four games in a row and eight straight at home, were led by Jordan Horston with 20 points and Nneka Ogwumike with 16 points. However, star player Jewell Loyd was limited to just 13 points on 5-for-14 shooting.

Skylar Diggins-Smith added 12 points and nine assists for the Storm, while Ezi Magbegor nearly had a triple-double with 13 points, eight rebounds, and eight blocks. Despite their efforts, Seattle struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 3-for-19 from 3-point range.

Seattle held an eight-point lead in the first half and went into halftime with a 42-40 advantage. However, the Sky mounted a comeback in the third quarter, scoring 30 points to take a 70-64 lead.

Carter played a crucial role in the third quarter, scoring 11 points as the Sky shot 63.6 percent from the field. Despite a late surge from the Storm, the Sky held on for the win.

The two teams will meet again in Seattle on Sunday for a rematch, and fans can expect another intense showdown between these two talented teams.
