A “90 Day Fiance” couple has found themselves in hot water after backtracking on a cancer announcement and seemingly trying to fundraise off of it. Brandan and Mary Denuccio, who appeared on ’90DF: The Other Way’ last year, shocked their followers over the weekend by announcing that Mary had been diagnosed with colon cancer. They asked for donations for a fundraiser they started to cover the costs of surgery she would need to remove it.
However, soon after the announcement, doubts began to surface online about the validity of their claims. It was revealed that Mary hadn’t actually received an official diagnosis from a doctor yet. The fundraising campaign was swiftly shut down by the platform they were using, GoGetFunding, which cited suspicious activity as the reason for pulling the plug.
While some donors may be concerned about the fate of their contributions, GoGetFunding clarified that the donations were processed through PayPal and did not pass through their site. They advised those who donated to dispute any charges with their banks if they felt it necessary.
Brandan and Mary have since spoken out about the controversy, claiming that they were the ones who ended the fundraising campaign due to the backlash they were receiving. Mary explained that she had announced her cancer diagnosis out of fear and pain, but they are still undergoing tests and procedures at the hospital.
It is a troubling situation that highlights the importance of transparency and honesty when it comes to fundraising for medical expenses. It is essential for individuals to verify the authenticity of their claims and provide accurate information to their supporters. In times of crisis, it is crucial to seek support from reputable sources and to be upfront about the circumstances.
