Yankees bring season-worst skid into matchup vs. Jays

The New York Yankees are currently on a season-high, four-game losing streak and will be looking to turn things around as they continue their series against the Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees suffered a tough loss in the series opener, falling 9-2 to the Blue Jays.

New York has been struggling as of late, losing nine of their past 11 games and dropping out of first place in the American League East. Manager Aaron Boone acknowledged the team’s need to execute better and make smarter decisions in order to get back on track.

On the other hand, the Blue Jays have had a rough season but are showing signs of improvement. George Springer’s impressive performance in the series opener, where he hit two three-run home runs, has given hope to the team and their fans. Toronto has won two games in a row after a seven-game losing streak.

Springer’s six-RBI night was a highlight for the Blue Jays, and manager John Schneider praised the outfielder for his hard work and dedication. Springer’s milestone 250th career home run came in the second inning against Carlos Rodon.

Despite the Yankees’ struggles, Toronto’s Isiah Kiner-Falefa has been on a hot streak, extending his hitting streak to 11 games. The Blue Jays will start left-hander Yusei Kikuchi on Friday, who has had success against the Yankees this season.

On the Yankees’ side, right-hander Marcus Stroman will take the mound against his former team. Stroman has been solid against the Blue Jays in his career, boasting a 1.63 ERA in three starts.

The Yankees also made a roster move, recalling right-hander Jake Cousins from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to bolster their bullpen.

Both teams will be looking to make a statement in the upcoming games, as they aim to gain momentum and improve their standings in the division. It will be an exciting matchup between two talented teams looking to get back on track and secure important wins.
