White Sox sign 3B Nick Senzel

The Chicago White Sox made a significant move on Wednesday, signing free agent third baseman Nick Senzel. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but this acquisition adds depth to the White Sox lineup.

Senzel, 29, was recently released by the Washington Nationals after being designated for assignment on July 6. In his time with the Nationals this season, he appeared in 64 games and had a batting average of .209 with seven home runs and 18 RBIs. Over his six-year career in the major leagues with the Cincinnati Reds and Nationals, Senzel has posted a .235 batting average across 441 games, with 40 home runs and 143 RBIs.

In addition to signing Senzel, the White Sox also made other roster moves on Wednesday. They designated Danny Mendick for assignment and optioned Lenyn Sosa to Triple-A Charlotte. Mendick, 30, was struggling at the plate this season with a .197 batting average, three home runs, and eight RBIs. Sosa, on the other hand, a 24-year-old third baseman, had a .237 batting average with four home runs and 15 RBIs in 52 games with the White Sox in 2024.

Another player who was designated for assignment was catcher Martin Maldonado, who had a rough season hitting just .119 with four home runs and 11 RBIs in 48 games. These roster moves indicate that the White Sox are actively looking to improve their roster and make changes to boost their performance on the field.

Overall, the addition of Nick Senzel brings experience and versatility to the Chicago White Sox lineup. Fans will be eager to see how he contributes to the team as they continue their push for a successful season.
