UAEU Invites Feedback on Sustainable Tourism Draft Action Plans

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is seeking feedback on its draft action plans for sustainable tourism in the region. The university has been working on developing these plans in collaboration with various stakeholders in the tourism industry, as well as experts in sustainability and environmental conservation.

The draft action plans aim to address the growing concerns about the environmental impact of tourism in the UAE, as well as the need to ensure that tourism development is done in a sustainable and responsible manner. The plans cover a wide range of issues, including waste management, water conservation, energy efficiency, and the preservation of cultural and natural heritage sites.

In order to gather feedback on the draft action plans, UAEU has launched a public consultation process, inviting individuals and organizations to review the plans and provide their input. The university is keen to hear from a diverse range of stakeholders, including government agencies, tourism operators, environmental NGOs, and local communities.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Hosani, the head of the UAEU’s Department of Environmental Sciences, emphasized the importance of engaging with stakeholders in the development of sustainable tourism policies. “It is crucial that we listen to the voices of those who will be directly affected by these policies, and incorporate their feedback into our plans,” he said.

The public consultation process will run for a period of two months, during which time interested parties can submit their comments and suggestions on the draft action plans. UAEU will then review the feedback and make any necessary revisions before finalizing the plans for implementation.

The university hopes that the sustainable tourism action plans will serve as a model for other countries in the region, demonstrating how tourism development can be both economically beneficial and environmentally responsible. By involving stakeholders in the development process, UAEU is ensuring that the plans are tailored to the specific needs and concerns of the local community.

Those interested in providing feedback on the draft action plans can do so by visiting the UAEU website or contacting the Department of Environmental Sciences directly. The university is committed to ensuring that the plans reflect the best practices in sustainable tourism, and welcomes input from all interested parties.
