ESports: Team Liquid Remains Undefeated in LCS Summer Split Group Stage

Team Liquid continued their dominance in the League Championship Series (LCS) Summer Split group stage with a convincing 2-0 victory over Immortals on Sunday. The win improved Liquid’s record to 5-0, keeping them undefeated in the tournament.

Both of Liquid’s wins came on the blue side, with the first game ending in just 24 minutes and the second in 29 minutes. Despite their perfect record, Liquid currently sits in second place in the standings behind Cloud9, who also boast a 5-0 record with a better individual game win-loss ratio.

With eight teams vying for six spots in the double-elimination playoff bracket, the competition is fierce in the Summer Split. The top two seeds will advance directly to the upper-bracket semifinals, while the other four seeds will battle it out in the upper-bracket quarterfinals.

All group-play matches in the LCS Summer Split are best-of-three, while the playoff matches are best-of-five. The winner of the tournament will take home $100,000 of the $200,000 prize pool, with the top three teams securing a spot in the World Championship.

In other matches on Sunday, FlyQuest staged a comeback to defeat 100 Thieves 2-1. After dropping the first game on the red side, FlyQuest responded with back-to-back wins on the blue side to secure the victory.

Looking ahead to Week 6 of group play, FlyQuest will face off against Shopify Rebellion, while 100 Thieves will take on Immortals in what promises to be another exciting round of matches.
