Sputtering offenses face off as Nationals meet Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers will face off against the Washington Nationals in a three-game series starting on Friday night, with the Brewers looking to bounce back from a tough loss and the Nationals hoping to break out of a recent slump.

In their last game, the Brewers were no-hit through seven innings by rookie right-hander Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates, ultimately losing 1-0. Despite managing only two hits in the game, the Brewers will look to regroup and put up a better offensive performance against the Nationals.

On the other side, the Nationals are coming off a 7-0 loss to the New York Mets, completing a three-game sweep. Washington has struggled to score runs during their current five-game losing streak, with manager Dave Martinez emphasizing the need for better at-bats with runners in scoring position.

One player to watch for the Nationals is outfielder James Wood, who is looking to break out of a recent slump after a strong start to his major league career. Wood, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Rochester on July 1, has struggled at the plate in recent games but Martinez remains confident in his abilities.

For the Brewers, outfielder Christian Yelich will look to bounce back from a hitless performance in the last game. Yelich had been on a hot streak in July, hitting .424 for the month, and will aim to continue his strong play against the Nationals.

On the mound, the Brewers will send Freddy Peralta to face off against Jackson Rutledge of the Nationals. Peralta, with a 6-4 record and a 3.95 ERA, will look to shut down the struggling Nationals offense. Rutledge, who is making only his second appearance of the season, will aim to make an impact for the Nationals in his start against the Brewers.

Both teams will be looking to turn things around in this series, with the Brewers hoping to get back in the win column and the Nationals looking to snap their losing streak. It should be an exciting matchup between two competitive teams as they battle it out on the field.
