Should Broncos fans have faith in Denver’s front office?

Nathaniel Hackett is who we thought he was, and the last time head coach Sean Payton won a ring, the sports world was still a month away from being introduced to Brad Stevens and the Butler Bulldogs. Putting the Denver Broncos’ mistakes all on Russell Wilson’s shoulders is a cowardly move. Are the Cowboys that good or are the Giants that bad? | Agree to Disagree

In the world of professional sports, there are few things more scrutinized than the decisions made by team management. When it comes to the Denver Broncos, recent events have shed light on just how poorly some of these decisions have been made.

The Broncos made headlines recently when they announced the release of star quarterback Russell Wilson, taking on the biggest dead money hit in NFL history in the process. The decision to part ways with Wilson, who had signed a lucrative contract extension just two years prior, shocked many in the football world.

Wilson, a Super Bowl champion and nine-time Pro Bowler, was brought in by the Broncos in a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks. The trade cost the Broncos a significant amount in draft picks and player assets, and Wilson was given a massive contract extension upon his arrival in Denver.

However, just 15 games into the 2022 season, the Broncos fired head coach Nathaniel Hackett, citing his poor performance as the reason for his dismissal. Hackett, who was reportedly set to make almost $4 million that season, had become the laughingstock of coaching in the eyes of many.

The decision to release Wilson and part ways with Hackett has left the Broncos scrambling to find a new franchise quarterback and head coach. With a history of instability at both positions, the Broncos have struggled to find success on the field in recent years.

The team has had 13 different starting quarterbacks since the retirement of Peyton Manning, with a lackluster win-loss record to show for it. The constant turnover at the quarterback position, combined with coaching changes and front office mismanagement, has left the Broncos in a state of disarray.

It’s clear that the issues facing the Broncos go far beyond the play of Russell Wilson. While he may have shouldered much of the blame for the team’s struggles, the reality is that the problems run much deeper within the organization.

Until the front office can address these underlying issues and make better decisions moving forward, the Broncos will continue to struggle to find success on the field. It’s time for a change in Denver, and it starts with holding team management accountable for their mistakes.
