The NBA is gearing up for the second edition of its in-season tournament, now known as the Emirates NBA Cup. The league recently announced that the tournament will kick off on November 12, with regular-season games designated as NBA Cup fixtures.
Just like last year, teams will be divided into six groups of five for a round-robin format. Group stage matches will be played on four Tuesdays and three Fridays in November and December. The quarterfinals of the knockout bracket are scheduled for December 10 and 11, followed by the semifinals and championship game at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on December 14 and 17 respectively.
The NBA Cup group draw will be conducted live on ESPN on Friday night. The Los Angeles Lakers emerged victorious in the inaugural tournament, defeating the Indiana Pacers in the championship game.
In a significant announcement earlier this year, the NBA revealed a new partnership with Emirates, resulting in the tournament being branded with the airline’s name from this season onwards.
The addition of the in-season tournament has injected a new level of excitement and competitiveness into the NBA calendar. With teams vying for the coveted NBA Cup, fans can expect thrilling matchups and intense battles on the court throughout the tournament.
