Saints OT Ryan Ramczyk (knee) to miss 2024 season

New Orleans Saints Ryan Ramczyk to Miss 2024 Season Due to Knee Issues

New Orleans Saints right tackle Ryan Ramczyk will miss the entire 2024 season after being placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list on Thursday. This move was expected as Ramczyk continues to experience knee issues that have plagued him for the past few seasons.

Ramczyk, who is 30 years old, was limited to just 12 games in the 2023 season and underwent offseason knee surgery to repair significant cartilage damage. He has been dealing with these cartilage issues for the past three seasons, and it has now led to him missing an entire season of play.

Earlier in his career, Ramczyk was considered one of the top offensive linemen in the league. He played 63 games over his first four regular seasons and earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2019, as well as second-team selections in 2018 and 2020. Despite being limited to 10 games in 2021, he was able to play in all 16 contests in 2022 with the help of regular injections.

Ramczyk, a first-round draft pick out of Wisconsin in 2017, has started all 101 games in which he has played over seven seasons. His absence will be a significant blow to the Saints’ offensive line this upcoming season.

In addition to Ramczyk, the Saints also placed defensive ends Chase Young and Tanoh Kpassagnon, tight end Juwan Johnson, and linebacker Nephi Sewell on the physically unable to perform list. Receiver Chris Olave was placed on the non-football injury list, while wideout Bub Means was activated from the non-football injury list.

Chase Young, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft, was one of the Saints’ biggest offseason acquisitions. He suffered a major knee injury in the middle of the 2021 season, which has limited his production since then.

It will be a challenging season for the Saints without Ramczyk anchoring their offensive line. The team will need to find a way to overcome his absence and continue to compete in a tough NFC South division.
