Rep. Tim Burchett Says Taylor Swift Has No Chance Swaying 2024 Elections

Congressman Tim Burchett believes that Taylor Swift’s endorsement will have no impact on the 2024 election. Burchett stated that he does not care for Swift’s endorsement because she lost him when she left country music, and he has not cared for her since. He also mentioned that her influence in the NFL may be significant, but personally, he has not watched a game in years. Burchett believes that celebrity endorsements do not hold much weight and only serve as a way for both teams to claim victory by bringing in high-profile supporters.

However, former Tennessee Rep. Jim Cooper, who Swift endorsed for House of Representatives in 2018, disagrees with Burchett. Cooper believes that Swift’s endorsement is the best endorsement one can have. He argues that Swift has a massive following on social media, with 29 million followers, and can easily influence swing states that are closely contested. Cooper believes that Taylor’s devoted fans are game for anything she supports.

While Burchett is firm in his belief, Cooper praises Swift for her handling of political matters, calling her brilliant and wholesome. Cooper also mentions Swift’s romance with Travis Kelce, likening it to a Hollywood movie.

Burchett goes on to express hope that more young voters will come out and vote in the upcoming election, as historically, they have low voter turnout. Swift has been vocal in her support for Joe Biden in the 2020 election, and it is expected that she will weigh in on the 2024 elections as well. Burchett believes that her endorsement will not make a significant difference, but not all politicians on Capitol Hill agree with him.
