Raiders draft bust tried to hide meth in his sock [Update]

The latest update on former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette has shocked many as police claim that he hid a pill stuffed with meth inside his sock on the night of his arrest. Arnette, who was stopped for driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone, was found to be in possession of meth and a loaded firearm during the incident in Richardson, Texas.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, Arnette admitted to having “substance abuse issues in the past” and was described as acting “unusually nervous and talkative” by police. This behavior led to a K9 unit being called to the scene, where officers discovered a Glock 20 10mm pistol under the passenger seat and a tampered white and orange capsule, which Arnette claimed was Adderall, inside his sock. Upon further inspection, it was revealed that the capsule contained methamphetamine.

This recent arrest marks the third time in three years that Arnette has been taken into custody. He now faces charges of possession of meth and unlawful carrying of a firearm, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Arnette’s legal team has stated that he was unable to provide law enforcement with a prescription for the medication found in his possession, leading to the arrest.

The troubled cornerback was drafted by the Raiders in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft but was released after just 11 games over two seasons. His time with the Dolphins and Chiefs also ended prematurely due to off-field incidents, including a viral video where he threatened to kill someone while brandishing multiple firearms.

Arnette’s downward spiral has drawn comparisons to his former teammate, Henry Ruggs III, who is currently serving time for a deadly DUI crash. The repeated legal troubles of both players highlight the challenges faced by professional athletes in managing their personal lives and staying out of trouble off the field.

As Arnette’s legal situation unfolds, it remains to be seen whether he will be able to turn his life around and avoid further trouble with the law. The once-promising athlete now finds himself at a crossroads, with his future in football hanging in the balance.
