President Joe Biden made a stop in Los Angeles this week as part of his efforts to fundraise for his reelection campaign. But during his time in the City of Angels, he also took the opportunity to spread some wealth and connect with the common folk.
One of the highlights of his visit was a lunch stop at CJ’s Cafe in the Baldwin Hills neighborhood. Joined by Mayor Karen Bass and a group of politicians and Secret Service agents, Biden opted for a breakfast burrito with ham, eggs, and bacon, along with a refreshing glass of orange juice. Mayor Bass went for scrambled eggs with cheese, tomatoes, and toast.
Although the dishes they ordered weren’t necessarily Mexican, CJ’s was happy to accommodate their cravings. Biden and Bass paid separately, with their teams taking care of the bills using their respective credit cards. However, Biden made sure to leave a generous $20 tip, paid in cash.
Despite the high-profile visit, CJ’s remained open to the public, with Biden even taking the time to snap photos with the managers and owners of the restaurant. After his meal, the President headed to a local library to deliver a speech before continuing his tour of L.A. with a police escort surrounding his motorcade.
Following his time in Los Angeles, Biden is set to travel to San Francisco before wrapping up his California tour and returning to Washington D.C. to attend to official duties.
The sighting of President Biden in L.A. was a surreal experience for many, with the streets coming to a standstill as he made his way through the city. And as a fun coincidence, CJ’s Cafe is located near Obama Blvd., adding an extra touch of presidential history to the visit.
Overall, Biden’s visit to Los Angeles was a mix of fundraising, public engagement, and a taste of local cuisine. His willingness to connect with everyday people and leave a generous tip at a neighborhood restaurant showcases his down-to-earth nature and commitment to serving the American people.
