PGA to name 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup captain Tuesday

The PGA of America is set to announce the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup captain at noon ET on Tuesday in New York. The prestigious Ryder Cup is a biennial golf competition between teams from Europe and the United States, and the captain plays a crucial role in leading their team to victory.

One of the leading candidates for the captaincy is none other than Tiger Woods. The golfing legend, who has had a storied career and is considered one of the greatest golfers of all time, is rumored to be the top choice if his busy schedule allows it. Woods himself has acknowledged the talks, stating, “There’s nothing that has been confirmed yet. We’re still working on what that might look like. Also whether or not I have the time to do it.”

In addition to Woods, there are several other potential choices for the captaincy, including 2021 captain Steve Stricker, Fred Couples, Stewart Cink, Davis Love III, Jim Furyk, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Rickie Fowler, and Phil Mickelson. The decision will ultimately come down to who the PGA of America believes is best suited to lead the U.S. team to victory in 2025.

The announcement of the U.S. Ryder Cup captain will be made by PGA of America president John Lindert at the NASDAQ building and will be broadcast on Golf Channel and SiriusXM. Fans can also watch the announcement live on the PGA’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.

The 2025 Ryder Cup will take place from September 26-28 at Bethpage Black on Long Island, New York. The event promises to be a thrilling competition between the best golfers from Europe and the United States, as they battle it out for the coveted Ryder Cup trophy.

On the European side, Luke Donald will return as the captain after leading his team to victory in Rome in 2023. With both teams gearing up for the competition, golf fans around the world can look forward to an exciting and fiercely contested Ryder Cup in 2025.
