Larry Merchant Recovering from Bout with Vertigo

Legendary boxing announcer Larry Merchant is on the mend after a recent bout with vertigo that landed him in the hospital. The 92-year-old former HBO Boxing commentator was rushed to the emergency room just days before Christmas, causing concern among fans and colleagues.

However, Merchant himself has provided an update on his condition, revealing that he is now recovering at home and doing well. He explained that he was diagnosed with vertigo, a condition characterized by a sensation of feeling off balance and experiencing dizzy spells. Thankfully, after receiving treatment, he was released from the hospital after just a few days.

Merchant expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support he received during his health scare, joking that it felt like witnessing his own funeral. His resilience and positive outlook are surely contributing to his recovery.

Throughout his career, Merchant worked alongside boxing greats such as Jim Lampley, George Foreman, Roy Jones Jr., and Harold Lederman. He retired in 2012 but remains widely regarded as one of the greatest commentators in the history of the sport.

Vertigo can be a debilitating condition, but with proper medical care and rest, individuals can often make a full recovery. Merchant’s experience serves as a reminder of the importance of seeking appropriate medical attention and following treatment plans for any health concerns.

As fans and colleagues continue to send well wishes, the boxing community eagerly awaits Merchant’s return to the sport he loves. Get well soon, Larry!
