Rookie Jacob Bridgeman Takes Early Lead at 3M Open

In a thrilling first round of the 3M Open in Blaine, Minnesota, rookie Jacob Bridgeman shot a career-low 8-under 63 to take a one-stroke lead. The 24-year-old Bridgeman, who has yet to win on the PGA Tour, showcased his talent with nine birdies, including three in a row on Holes 12-14 at TPC Twin Cities. Despite a bogey on the par-4 ninth hole, Bridgeman finished strong with birdies on his last two holes to secure the lead.

Following closely behind Bridgeman is Canada’s Mackenzie Hughes, who carded a 7-under 64 to sit just one stroke back. Hughes’ round included seven birdies and solid play throughout the day. Patrick Rodgers, Andrew Novak, and France’s Martin Trainer are also in contention, finishing one shot behind Hughes at 6-under.

Sahith Theegala and seven other players posted first-round scores of 66, putting them three shots off the lead. Notable names such as Tony Finau are in the mix as well, sitting four shots back after a 5-under 67 in the opening round.
