‘It’s Treason,’ Says Marjorie Taylor Greene As Reports Suggest Record Immigrant Crossings Across Southern Border In December: ‘California Taxpayers Have To Pay For It’

The surge in illegal immigration across the southern border of the United States has become a major issue, and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) recently commented on the alarming reports. According to data shared by a Fox News correspondent, there were over 276,000 migrant encounters at the southern border in December, surpassing the previous record set in September.

Greene took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to express her concerns. She stated, “The border crisis is the top issue and I want to impeach but can’t get the votes.” The representative’s frustration is echoed by many who believe that immediate action is necessary to address the escalating situation.

A recent CBS News report revealed that U.S. Border Patrol agents took over 225,000 migrants into custody during the first 27 days of December. These numbers do not include legal crossings at ports of entry, where the Biden administration processes approximately 50,000 migrants each month. The report highlighted that the previous monthly record of immigrant processing by Border Patrol was 224,000 in May 2022.

Greene expressed her strong disapproval, calling the situation “treasonous.” She also criticized California’s decision to provide free healthcare to illegal immigrants, pointing out that taxpayers would ultimately foot the bill. The congresswoman even speculated about the effectiveness of a taxpayer revolt, a movement that gained momentum in the late 1970s as a means to restrict government spending by limiting its ability to raise tax revenues.

The issue of illegal immigration has been a contentious one, with Republicans advocating for spending cuts to rein in the ballooning U.S. debt and reduce the fiscal deficit. A Gallup poll conducted in June revealed that 73% of Republicans want immigration decreased, while only 10% want it increased. In contrast, Democrats have a net preference score of +22 for immigration, while independents have a -12% score.

The magnitude of the illegal immigration crisis has caught the attention of prominent figures outside of politics as well. Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently commented on the issue, stating that “almost no one seems to be aware of the immense size and lightning growth of this issue.” He highlighted that mayors of major cities like New York and Chicago have expressed concerns about the overwhelming strain on essential services.

The surge in illegal immigration across the southern border is a pressing issue that demands immediate attention and action. With record-breaking numbers and the strain it puts on resources and services, it is crucial for lawmakers to come together and find a solution that addresses the humanitarian crisis while also upholding the rule of law. The immigration debate will continue to be a key topic in future elections and policy discussions, as it has far-reaching implications for the country’s economy, security, and social fabric.
