France, Germany, Serbia reach men’s basketball semifinals

The Paris 2024 Olympic Summer Games are in full swing, and the men’s basketball tournament has been nothing short of exciting. One of the standout teams so far has been Germany, who recently secured their spot in the semifinals with a convincing 76-63 win over Greece.

Led by guard Franz Wagner, who scored 18 points in the game, Germany showed their strength and determination on the court. Dennis Schroeder also had a solid performance with 13 points, helping the World Cup winners improve their record to 4-0.

After the game, Wagner expressed his pride in the team’s accomplishment, stating, “It means a lot to be in the semifinals for the first time. I think everybody in the team knows that we have a special group. That’s motivation enough. I was seven, I think, when Dirk Nowitzki played in the Olympics, and I think we’ve come a long way because of guys like him. It’s all on us to keep that going forward.”

On the other side, two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo put up a strong performance for Greece with 22 points, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win against the dominant German team.

The basketball tournament has now moved to Paris for the knockout round, with four quarterfinals taking place. The matchup between France and Canada was particularly anticipated, with France ultimately coming out on top with an 82-73 victory.

France was led by Guerschon Yabusele, who scored 22 points, and Isaia Cordinier, who added 20 points. The team’s total team effort and strong performance helped them secure a spot in the semifinals and set up a rematch with Germany.

Overall, the men’s basketball tournament at the Paris Olympics has been full of thrilling moments and impressive performances. With powerhouse teams like Germany and France advancing to the semifinals, fans can expect more exciting matchups as the tournament progresses.
