The Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves were set to face off in the second game of a split doubleheader on Wednesday, but Mother Nature had other plans. The game was postponed due to forecasted inclement weather, and has been rescheduled for September 9th.
This was the second postponement of the series, as Tuesday’s game was also rained out and rescheduled as part of Wednesday’s doubleheader. Despite the weather setbacks, the Reds managed to secure a victory in the series opener on Monday, winning 4-1. They then went on to defeat the Braves 9-4 in Game 1 of the doubleheader earlier on Wednesday.
The new date for the postponed game falls right in the middle of a busy stretch for both teams. Cincinnati will be on a nine-game road trip, with the rescheduled game sandwiched between stops in New York and St. Louis. Meanwhile, Atlanta will be coming off a six-game homestand, with a trip to Washington to face the Nationals scheduled for the day after the rescheduled game.
It’s always tough for teams to deal with postponed games and the resulting scheduling challenges, but both the Reds and the Braves will have to adapt and make the best of the situation. As they say in baseball, you have to be able to weather the storm – both literally and figuratively.
For now, fans will have to wait a little longer to see these two teams go head-to-head once again. But when they do finally meet on the field, it’s sure to be an exciting matchup between two talented teams vying for a crucial win.
