Breanna Stewart, Liberty go for season sweep of Fever

The New York Liberty, the top team in the WNBA, will be looking to extend their winning streak to six games as they take on the Indiana Fever this Saturday in Indianapolis. New York has dominated their matchups against Indiana this season, winning all three previous meetings by a combined margin of 83 points.

One player who has been particularly impressive against the Fever is forward Breanna Stewart, who is averaging 22.7 points per game while shooting over 50% from the field in their matchups this season. Stewart is coming off a double-double performance in their last game against the Minnesota Lynx, where she scored 17 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.

The Liberty have also received contributions from other players in their lineup, with at least four players scoring in double figures in each of their games against Indiana. Jonquel Jones, who had a 21-point, 12-rebound double-double in their last game, has been a key player for New York as well.

Defensively, the Liberty have been tough to crack, as they have shown the ability to elevate their game in the fourth quarter. Coach Sandy Brondello emphasized the importance of defense and hard work, and the team has responded by limiting their opponents in crucial moments.

On the other side, the Indiana Fever have shown improvement since their slow start to the season, but they have struggled in their recent games, losing three of their last four matchups. Guard Kelsey Mitchell has been a consistent scorer for the Fever, scoring in double figures in eight straight games.

Fever coach Christie Sides highlighted the team’s defensive effort in their recent game against the Las Vegas Aces, but also emphasized the need to improve their shooting efficiency. Indiana will be looking to bounce back and put up a strong performance against the Liberty.

Overall, the stage is set for an exciting matchup between two contrasting teams – the dominant New York Liberty and the improving Indiana Fever. Both teams will be looking to make a statement and come out on top in this highly anticipated game.
