In a shocking turn of events, new police video footage obtained by TMZ Sports shows boxing star Jarrell Miller in good spirits and cracking jokes during his arrest earlier this month. The incident occurred on January 2 when Miller was confronted by officers from the Hollywood Police Department in Florida. He had been accused of body-slamming a car dealership employee before stealing a truck from the lot.
According to police documents, officers were able to track Miller down using a tracker placed in the stolen vehicle. However, the body camera footage reveals that Miller was seemingly unfazed by the serious allegations against him, displaying a jovial mood throughout the arrest.
In the video, Miller can be seen wearing a “#F***AJOB” T-shirt and can be heard asking an officer if he could inform his “brother” about the situation. When the cop asked if his brother looked like him, Miller jokingly replied, “He’s white as a motherf***er. He’s my God brother!”
Miller continued to make light of the situation, even asking a policeman if there was any way he could be handcuffed to the front of the squad car due to his imposing 6-foot-4, 330-pound frame.
Eventually, Miller was placed in the vehicle and taken to a nearby station where he was booked on charges of carjacking without a firearm or weapon and burglary with assault or battery. Two days later, he appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Despite the seriousness of the situation, Miller seemed optimistic when he was released from custody. In a statement, he said, “I am prayerful and look forward to a favorable resolution of this case.”
Miller, also known as “Big Baby,” recently fought Daniel Dubois in December but suffered a loss, bringing his professional boxing record to 26-1-1.
The video footage of Miller’s arrest showcases a surprising side of the boxer, who appears to be in good spirits and cracking jokes despite the gravity of the accusations against him. It remains to be seen how this incident will impact his boxing career, but Miller remains hopeful for a positive outcome as the legal process unfolds.
