Blue Jays hammer Marcus Stroman, beat Yankees

The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the New York Yankees 8-5 in a thrilling game on Friday night at Yankee Stadium. The game was delayed by rain for 86 minutes, but once it started, the Blue Jays wasted no time in taking control.

Ernie Clement was the star of the game, driving in three runs and helping his team secure the win. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. also had a strong performance, reaching base four times and extending his hitting streak to 15 games with an RBI single in the first inning.

The Blue Jays never trailed in the game, and they chased New York starter Marcus Stroman out of the game in the third inning. Spencer Horwitz and Brian Serven also contributed offensively, with Serven delivering a crucial two-run single in the third inning.

Despite Aaron Judge hitting his major-league-leading 40th homer of the season, the Yankees couldn’t overcome the Blue Jays’ strong performance. Anthony Volpe had a solid game for the Yankees, with three hits including a two-run homer in the fifth inning.

Kevin Gausman got the win for the Blue Jays, allowing five runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings. The bullpen also played a crucial role in securing the victory, with Brendon Little earning the win and former Yankee Chad Green closing out the game with his eighth save of the season.

Overall, it was a great win for the Blue Jays as they continue to push for a playoff spot in the highly competitive AL East division. The Yankees will look to bounce back in the next game and continue their pursuit of a postseason berth.
