Blue Jays bash Logan Webb, roll past Giants

The Toronto Blue Jays came out swinging and never looked back in their 10-6 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night. Ernie Clement led the charge with a homer for the second consecutive night, helping his team to a much-needed win.

Clement’s three-run homer in the fifth inning gave the Blue Jays a 3-2 lead, and they never relinquished it. George Springer also had a big night, doubling twice and driving in three runs to contribute to the offensive onslaught.

The Giants tried to mount a comeback, with Michael Conforto’s RBI hits keeping them in the game. However, Toronto’s relentless hitting knocked out All-Star pitcher Logan Webb and put the game out of reach with a six-run sixth inning.

Four consecutive hits to start the inning, including RBI singles by Justin Turner and Davis Schneider, sealed Webb’s fate. Alejandro Kirk and Clement added run-scoring singles, and Springer’s double drove in two more runs to give the Blue Jays a commanding lead.

Webb was charged with a season-high seven runs on eight hits in his five-plus innings of work. On the other side, Toronto starter Chris Bassitt held the Giants to three runs in five innings to earn the win.

Clement was the star of the night, going 3-for-4 with a career-high four RBIs and two runs scored. Kirk also had a strong game with three hits and two runs scored, while Schneider and Leo Jimenez contributed with multiple hits each.

Unfortunately for the Giants, they couldn’t muster enough offense to overcome the Blue Jays’ strong performance. Patrick Bailey and Matt Chapman hit back-to-back solo homers in the ninth inning, but it was too little, too late for San Francisco.

The Blue Jays’ victory was a bounce-back performance after a tough walk-off loss in the series opener on Tuesday. With this win, they improved their record and showed that they can compete with some of the best teams in the league.

Overall, it was a thrilling game with plenty of action on both sides. The Blue Jays came out on top this time, but the Giants will be looking to regroup and bounce back in the next game.
