Blanket Jackson Asks Court Not to Pay Grandmother’s Attorney’s Fees From MJ Estate

The Jackson family has found themselves embroiled in a complex legal battle, with Michael Jackson’s youngest son, Blanket, taking a stand against his own grandmother, Katherine Jackson. The issue at hand revolves around the use of Michael’s estate money to fund an appeal of a previous ruling, a decision that Blanket is vehemently against.

In a recent court filing, Blanket, whose real name is Bigi Jackson, expressed his disapproval of Katherine using the estate funds to continue the legal fight. The disagreement stems from a previous ruling in which Blanket and Katherine teamed up to oppose a business transaction by the executors of Michael’s estate. While the specifics of the transaction remain unclear, it is believed to be related to the sale of a portion of Michael’s music catalog to Sony for $600 million.

Despite their efforts, the court ruled against Blanket and Katherine, effectively bringing the legal dispute to a close. However, Katherine has decided to appeal the ruling, a decision that Blanket believes is unlikely to succeed and not in the best interest of the estate beneficiaries. As an heir to the estate, Blanket is concerned about the depletion of funds for a potentially fruitless legal battle.

In his court filing, Blanket has requested that the court deny Katherine the use of estate money for the appeal and instead, grant her reasonable attorney’s fees from the pre-appeal proceedings. He acknowledges that Katherine is entitled to legal representation but believes that using estate funds for the appeal is unnecessary.

The situation highlights the discord within the Jackson family, with Blanket and Katherine at odds over the handling of Michael’s estate. While Blanket is focused on preserving the estate’s assets for the beneficiaries, Katherine’s decision to pursue the appeal has created a rift within the family.

As the legal battle unfolds, it remains to be seen how the court will rule on Blanket’s request and whether the Jackson family can come to a resolution in this complex and contentious matter.
