Alec Baldwin Considering Calling Celeb Witnesses in Manslaughter Trial

Alec Baldwin may be enlisting the help of other celebrities for his upcoming manslaughter trial over the death of Halyna Hutchins, but there’s a catch. According to sources close to the case, Alec’s team is considering putting together a list of famous people to potentially testify on his behalf during the trial this summer. However, these stars would be individuals who have already spoken out in Alec’s defense.

Specifically, Alec and his team are reportedly eyeing public figures who have weighed in on the issue of whether an actor can be held responsible for weapons on set. While this potential witness list has not been finalized yet, it could include well-known names who have publicly supported Alec since the tragic incident on the set of “Rust.”

Some celebrities who have already shown their support for Alec include Debra Messing, Mickey Rourke, DJ Qualls, Frances Fisher, and others. These actors have taken a firm stance that Alec should not be held accountable for something he was not responsible for checking in his capacity as an actor. Some, like Mickey Rourke, have even expressed their willingness to testify on Alec’s behalf if called upon.

In a recent tweet, DJ Qualls expressed his doubts about holding Alec responsible, stating, “Not sure about this. I’ve been handed a gun so many times on set and could only trust when they said the rounds weren’t live. How would I know? As a producer, maybe he’s responsible, but as an actor pulling the trigger, it could have been any of us.”

It’s worth noting that the armorer on set, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was recently convicted of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the incident. While some believe this could be detrimental to Alec’s case, others argue that it only reinforces the idea that the person responsible for weapons on set has been held criminally liable.

Alec Baldwin pleaded not guilty to the involuntary manslaughter charge in January, more than two years after the tragic accident occurred. His attorney, Alex Spiro, has not yet commented on the potential celebrity witnesses for the trial.

As the trial approaches, it will be interesting to see if Alec does indeed call on these famous supporters to testify on his behalf. Their testimony could potentially sway the outcome of the case and provide valuable insights into the complexities of on-set safety protocols and responsibilities.
