1win is living up to its name in the Elite League Season 2 championship in Lima, Peru. After a dominant performance in the upper-bracket final, they are now just one win away from taking home the championship title.
In the upper-bracket final on Saturday, 1win swept Team Liquid 2-0, securing their spot in Sunday’s grand final. They will face the winner of the lower-bracket final between Liquid and BOOM Esports.
The Dota Elite League Season 2 started with 16 teams competing in Swiss-style group play. The top eight teams from the group advanced to the playoffs, with the top four teams moving into the upper-bracket semis and the next four teams relegated to the lower bracket. The winner of Sunday’s grand final will take home $240,000 out of the $800,000 prize pool, while the runner-up will receive $120,000.
All playoffs matches are best-of-three, except for the grand final, which is a best-of-five series.
In the matchup between 1win and Liquid, 1win took the first map in 40 minutes while playing on red. They then secured the victory on green in 46 minutes to win the match.
The lower-bracket quarterfinal saw nouns, the top-seeded team after group play, getting eliminated without winning a match in the playoffs. BOOM Esports emerged victorious in a 29-minute and 44-minute match against nouns on green.
In the lower-bracket semifinal, BOOM Esports defeated Execration in 50 minutes on the first map and completed the sweep in just 28 minutes on red.
The schedule for Sunday’s matches includes the lower-bracket final between Team Liquid and BOOM Esports, followed by the grand final between 1win and the winner of the lower-bracket final.
