Saints sign WR Samson Nacua, Puka’s brother

The New Orleans Saints made a significant move on Friday, signing wide receiver Samson Nacua to their roster. Nacua, who is the older brother of Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nacua, brings a wealth of experience and talent to the team.

To make room for Nacua, the Saints decided to terminate the contract of their No. 4 quarterback in training camp, Nathan Peterman. This decision shows the team’s confidence in Nacua’s abilities and the impact they believe he can make on the field.

Nacua, 26, has had an impressive college football career, having played at both Utah (2017-20) and BYU (2021). During his time in college, he caught 103 passes for 1,344 yards and 14 touchdowns, showcasing his skills as a reliable and dynamic receiver.

After a brief stint with the USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers in 2023, Nacua went on to play for the UFL’s Michigan Panthers this past season. Despite notching 11 receptions for 125 yards, Nacua’s performance caught the attention of the Saints’ coaching staff, leading to his signing with the team.

Although Nacua has never played in the NFL, he did have a brief opportunity with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022 as an undrafted free agent. His time with the Colts gave him valuable experience and insight into the professional football world, preparing him for this new opportunity with the Saints.

Nacua joins another new wide receiver, Marquez Callaway, who signed with the Saints just a day before him. With injuries impacting receivers Cedrick Wilson, Equanimeous St. Brown, and Bub Means, Nacua’s addition to the team provides depth and versatility to the Saints’ receiving corps.

Overall, the signing of Samson Nacua reflects the Saints’ commitment to strengthening their roster and maximizing their potential for success in the upcoming season. Fans will be eager to see Nacua in action and witness the impact he can make on the field for the team.
