As the world slowly begins to reopen after the pandemic, a new study by travel insurance provider AllClear has revealed that a record 83% of Brits are planning to travel abroad this summer. This marks a significant increase from last year when travel restrictions and lockdowns prevented many from taking trips overseas.
The study, which surveyed over 2,000 people across the UK, found that the desire to travel is stronger than ever, with the majority of respondents eager to escape the confines of their homes and explore new destinations. According to the survey, the top destinations on Brits’ travel wish lists include Spain, Greece, Italy, France, and the United States.
One of the main reasons cited for the surge in travel plans is the successful rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine in the UK, which has given many people the confidence to book holidays abroad. In fact, 62% of respondents said that they feel more comfortable traveling now that they have been vaccinated.
Additionally, the study found that the majority of those planning to travel this summer are looking to take longer trips, with 67% of respondents saying they plan to go away for at least a week. This is a stark contrast to last year when many holidaymakers opted for shorter breaks closer to home.
However, despite the eagerness to travel, the study also found that there are still some concerns among Brits about the potential risks of traveling during the pandemic. 46% of respondents said that they are worried about contracting COVID-19 while abroad, while 39% expressed concerns about changing travel restrictions and quarantine rules.
To address these concerns, AllClear is encouraging travelers to book comprehensive travel insurance that includes cover for COVID-19-related issues. The company offers a range of policies that provide protection against cancellations, medical expenses, and emergency repatriation in the event of contracting the virus while traveling.
Overall, the study highlights a renewed enthusiasm for travel among Brits as the world begins to open up again. With vaccination rates on the rise and travel restrictions easing, many are eager to make up for lost time and explore new destinations this summer. By taking precautions and booking comprehensive travel insurance, holidaymakers can enjoy their trips with peace of mind knowing that they are protected against any unforeseen circumstances.
