The Washington Nationals are set to make a big move by calling up outfield prospect James Wood to make his major league debut on Monday. Wood, who is just 21 years old, is ranked as the league’s No. 3 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline and has been putting up impressive numbers at Triple-A Rochester.
In 51 games this season, Wood has a .346 batting average and a 1.036 OPS, with 10 home runs, 34 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases. Throughout his minor league career since 2021, Wood has maintained a .300 batting average with 51 homers, 209 RBIs, and 58 stolen bases in 282 games.
