Tourism Malaysia recently organised a familiarisation programme to showcase two of its most popular tourist destinations – Penang and Langkawi. The programme was aimed at familiarising travel agents and media representatives with the attractions, activities, and accommodations available in these two beautiful islands.

Penang, also known as the Pearl of the Orient, is a cultural melting pot with a rich history and heritage. It is famous for its diverse culinary scene, vibrant street art, and well-preserved colonial architecture. During the familiarisation programme, participants had the opportunity to explore iconic landmarks such as Fort Cornwallis, Kek Lok Si Temple, and Penang Hill. They also got to savour the local delicacies at famous hawker centres and experience the traditional way of life in the heritage city of George Town.

Langkawi, on the other hand, is a tropical paradise with pristine beaches, lush rainforests, and crystal-clear waters. Participants of the programme were treated to a sunset cruise around the archipelago, where they got to witness the breathtaking views of the Andaman Sea and the surrounding islands. They also visited the Langkawi Sky Bridge, a suspension bridge that offers panoramic views of the rainforest canopy and the Telaga Tujuh waterfalls.

Apart from exploring the natural and cultural attractions of Penang and Langkawi, participants also had the opportunity to experience the hospitality of the locals and the luxury accommodations available in both destinations. They were hosted at top-rated hotels and resorts, where they were pampered with world-class amenities and services.

Overall, the familiarisation programme was a great success in showcasing the unique charm and beauty of Penang and Langkawi. Participants were impressed by the diverse offerings of both destinations and left with a newfound appreciation for Malaysia’s tourism industry. Tourism Malaysia hopes that by highlighting the best of Penang and Langkawi, more travellers will be inspired to visit these two amazing islands and experience the wonders that they have to offer.
