‘Road House’ Star Critiques Gyllenhaal, McGregor Fight Scenes, Hits Sound Off!

In the world of movie remakes, there is always a mix of excitement and skepticism. Fans of the original film often hold it near and dear to their hearts, making it difficult for a new version to live up to their expectations. This is especially true for cult classics like “Road House,” which starred the late Patrick Swayze. So when news broke about a remake of the film starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor, fans were understandably curious about how it would compare.

One person who has a unique perspective on the matter is Marshall Teague, who played Patrick Swayze’s arch nemesis, Jimmy, in the original “Road House.” Teague recently watched the trailer for the new remake and shared his thoughts with TMZ Sports. While he is rooting for the new film to succeed, he couldn’t help but notice one major difference that caught his attention – the sound of the fight scenes.

Teague, who has experience in martial arts and kickboxing, revealed that he and Swayze actually hit each other hard during their on-screen fights. As a result, the fight scenes in the original film sounded as realistic as they looked. However, considering McGregor’s status as one of the greatest fighters in the world and Gyllenhaal’s lack of experience in combat, it’s safe to assume that they couldn’t go toe-to-toe like Swayze and Teague did. Nevertheless, Teague hopes that the two actors were able to build a similar bond on set.

Despite his fondness for the original film, Teague has nothing but praise for Gyllenhaal and McGregor, calling them amazing in their respective fields. He wants nothing but the best for the upcoming remake and hopes that it can live up to the high expectations set by fans of the original.

In addition to discussing the new film, Teague also reflected on his time working with Patrick Swayze. He expressed his love and admiration for his late co-star, saying that he misses him every day. Teague feels honored to have had the opportunity to work with Swayze and hopes that Gyllenhaal and McGregor can develop a similar bond on set.

As for the possibility of a cameo in the 2024 edition, Teague revealed that he has received countless messages from fans asking if he will make an appearance. However, he pointed out that it would be difficult for his character to return, as he died in the original film. While this may disappoint some fans, Teague believes it’s important to remember that “Road House” has been out for three decades, making it a well-known plot point.

In the end, no matter how great the remake turns out to be, Teague acknowledges that it will be tough to top the original. But he remains hopeful that the new film will be able to capture the spirit and essence of the original while bringing something fresh and exciting to the table. Only time will tell if the remake can live up to the legacy of the beloved cult classic, but fans will undoubtedly be watching with great anticipation.
